I absolutely love it when I can take an outfit from day to night, and this a-line skirt and cold shoulder top combo easily fit that bill. And, not to mention, the neutral color palette of these closet staples makes accessorizing so. much. fun. This look can be quickly changed into so many different outfits, just by switching out the scarf, necklace or shoes; this is exactly how I made my outfit do the work for me just by removing my scarf for a dressier, nighttime look. No sitting in my closet pondering what to wear for a second time in one day when I have plans after work! By simply taking off my scarf and switching the focal point of my outfit to this gorgeous Kate Spade pearl statement necklace, I completely changed the aesthetic of my look and essentially created a second outfit - perfect for dinner with friends or date night with your significant other!

Happy Thursday loves! I am SO excited to be showing you this outfit - I've been wearing each piece separately on repeat, and can't get over how well it all came together for this look! This is easily one of my favorite outfits so far this summer! I don't know about you guys, but I love mixing unexpected patterns to change things up every once in a while. This combination works for three reasons:

  • The color palette between the dress and sandals mixes well and doesn't clash - the commonality of white in each pattern helps tie these together!
  • The prints are not overly loud - since they aren't "screaming" at you when you look at them, there isn't one pattern that takes over the total look.
  • The two prints are far enough apart from each other that it's almost like you're looking at one print at a time.

Also, this denim jacket is to die for - light wash and destructed is very in, and darker wash jackets are fading out. The denim jacket itself will never go out of style, but the popularity of wash/details and silhouette will change. This is the perfect third piece to complete any outfit for your summer nights! And these gingham sandals? So on trend right now. Get your hands on anything gingham that you can - this is the print of the summer! Happy shopping loves! xoxo

With the falling temperatures and light dusting of snow on the ground, it looks like winter is here to stay. Exciting for some, not so exciting for others. I'm personally caught in the middle on how I feel about these cooler temperatures; I can't wait to start wearing my new winter jackets, but don't quite want to give up my summery shoes. A bright side to these colder temps though are the winter-inspired plaids that come along with it, such as this blue and white plaid cardigan from Ann Taylor. I chose to pair it with light wash denim and leather booties for a more casual look, but it can be worn many different ways. Other options include pairing with black leggings and black suede wedge booties, or layering over a pencil skirt and blouse for work.

Nothing is more perfect for a Thanksgiving day spent with family than an oversize cable knit sweater and a cozy plaid blanket scarf. When paired with high waisted skinny jeans and suede ankle booties, it creates an effortless put together look while still being comfy and laid back. Who wants to be stuck in a dress and tights when they're trying to eat their yearly share of Grandma's turkey stuffing? Not me. If you see a "food baby" in your future, switching out jeans for leggings is another option. I would suggest looking for leggings with leather accents, and pairing with wool socks to be scrunched up just above the top of your booties.

As far as scarves go, finding a true blanket scarf is a difficult feat. This one from Francesca's (I'm obsessed with this color combination) is not a perfect square, so I folded it in half to achieve the bandana styling in my fourth picture. Blanket scarves (and similar styles) are really versatile though, and there are many different ways to wear them; it all depends on the look that you're trying to achieve.

Here's to a stylish Thanksgiving!

Capes + Plaid

This fall, I've been all about capes and plaid. I just can't get enough of them. This particular cape is great for transition weather, since it has the soft and cozy feel of a blanket without being too thick and warm. It easily drapes over your shoulders and provides an effortlessly cool look, especially with the eye-catching mix of colors that was utilized. Pair it with riding boots for Saturday morning errands, or with black jeggings and suede fringe booties for a more casual look. The possibilities are endless!
