If you're looking to tap into the boho chic side of your style personality, this outfit is for you. By combining a floppy wool hat and sheer cardigan with more updated pieces like high waisted skinny jeans and leather shooties, I was able to incorporate this trend into my outfit without it being over the top. The 70's inspired boho trend is a great look to experiment with, but keep in mind that balance is key to achieving this look (we don't want to look like we just stepped off the set of That 70's Show, although if Ashton Kutcher was there I may have a change of heart). Other ways to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe include bell sleeve tops and dresses, peasant tops, anything with fringe accents, and suede statement pieces (i.e. a suede vest).

Fashion is a Reflection of Your Life

Reflection

This is such a great quote from Pharrell Williams, not only because it speaks to the point that fashion should be realistic, but also that it can change based on what you are personally feeling. In a sense, I believe that this is really talking about style, since style is so unique to each individual. For me, I definitely have my core style that will never change, but my mood each morning is what really determines the feel of my final outfit choices, and what kind of vibe I will give off each day. Some days I lean very feminine, with pastel color palettes and floral patterns, while other days I feel a little more edgy, and decide on blacks and greys with leather accents. We, and our fashion choices, just like the world around us, are always changing.

It's finally sweater weather (I think), and I couldn't be more excited about some of the unique pieces that I've found this fall. One trend that I really love right now is leather accents; they provide a little bit of an edge without being over the top. Whether it's a leather sash and pockets like this sweater, or leather trim on a cozy oversize cape, I just can't get enough. It doesn't have to stop there though. The variety in texture of the leather on my boots provides an interesting twist as well. The front half of the shaft on these boots is actually a stretchy material in disguise, making them some of the most well-fitting and comfortable that I've found. Leather accents are popping up all over the place though, ranging from leather fringe on the bottom of a poncho or sweater, to leather sleeves on an army-inspired jacket. This truly is a trend that is easy to recreate, and with so many different options, you can cater it to your own style personality.

Accessories

This is such a relatable quote from my favorite watch and handbag designer of the moment, Michael Kors. Great accessories can take an outfit from an 8 to a 12.5, whether it's a brightly colored statement necklace, a menswear-inspired watch or that perfect clutch for a night out. Oh, and shoes; don't forget great shoes! I personally wear the same watch and three rings every day. These are my staples, and I feel naked when I forget to put them on in the morning. From there, I play around with layering different necklaces together, and finding that perfect pair of shoes to complete my outfit. If you're in need of some new accessories to freshen up your look, a great place to start is Charming Charlie. The store is organized by color, which can either make for a very short trip if you know what you want, or a great time-waster when you're bored on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Take some inspiration from How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and go "frost yourself."

Capes + Plaid

This fall, I've been all about capes and plaid. I just can't get enough of them. This particular cape is great for transition weather, since it has the soft and cozy feel of a blanket without being too thick and warm. It easily drapes over your shoulders and provides an effortlessly cool look, especially with the eye-catching mix of colors that was utilized. Pair it with riding boots for Saturday morning errands, or with black jeggings and suede fringe booties for a more casual look. The possibilities are endless!

Fashion Inspires Confidence

Confidence

Yves Saint Laurent, you've done it again. This is such a great quote from the late French designer, and it could not be more relatable to women everywhere. A stylish and well put together outfit does wonders for my mood and confidence, and adds a little more spring to my step. When I look and feel good, not only do the obstacles and tasks ahead of me seem a little less daunting, but I'm also more eager to start chipping away at them. So, skip the sweatpants today, and pull together a more fashionable and trendy outfit from your closet; you'll be pleasantly surprised at the confidence and ambition that ensues.

Indian Summer

This fall, I've been showing some major love for my cozy oversize sweaters. But when we experienced an Indian summer last week with temperatures hitting the low 70's, I was elated for the chance to get one more use out of a few of my fall dresses. I love the midi hemline of this dress, which is perfect for the workplace while still showing a little skin (although a little pale - how have I lost all of my tan already?!). Add to that the fact that this dress incorporates the oh so popular color of the year, marsala, and we have a great combo. It was a little chilly in the morning, so I threw on this fitted leather jacket from Express. It worked to wear it open and show the neckline of the dress, or wear it partially zipped to accentuate my waist. If you live in a warmer part of the country, throw an unbuttoned sheer blouse over the top and tie it up at the waist for a fun and flirty take on this versatile dress.

"Fashion Comes from Within"

FashionFromWithin

I think for many people, fashion means wearing famous designer names from the runway, or following unrealistic trends that are often seen in couture magazines. In reality though, fashion is all about taking risks and trying new things. When was the last time you thought a pair of skinny jeans and a plain t-shirt was on the brink of the fashion scene? I'm guessing not recently; it's a safe outfit. When you find the drive to seek out and create fashion though, there are often great results. And that doesn't mean dropping hundreds of dollars on a dress. I've found many of my favorite pieces at H&M and TJ Maxx. It's all about the desire for something different, and the willingness to go find it.
