I love dressing up and going to fancy events, but in the winter it is undeniably harder to find the right outfit. It seems like store racks are filled with LBD's and sequin-covered dresses for the holidays, but a girl can only own so many of those before she gets bored. I recently came across this gorgeous Nicole Miller dress (linked below!) and knew it had to be mine. The floral brocade fabric is appropriate for winter months, and the sparkly cobalt blue makes the pattern pop off the dress. Not to mention the open lace back makes any entrance, and exit, one to remember.

I recently wore this for a New Year's Eve party, and received many compliments! I kept the accessories simple by adding black suede ankle strap heels and a black velvet Ralph Lauren crossbody bag. The mixing of fabrics added interest without taking away from the stunning fabric of the dress. If cobalt isn't your color, this dress also comes in a gold/bronze option as well. Happy shopping loves! xoxo

A New Year's Thought

NYEQuote

Happy New Year's Eve everyone! I hope tonight finds you surrounded by family and friends, champagne, and lots of excitement to ring in 2016.

When I first read this quote, I started to reflect on the past year of my life. 2015 was a year of transition for me, both exciting and very scary at the same time. I graduated with a degree in retail from the University of Wisconsin, moved to a new city, and started my first full time job as an assistant buyer for a major retailer. It was unbelievably hard leaving my best friends and the city that has given me so many memories to cherish (Madison will always have a piece of my heart), but it was time to start the next chapter of my life. I don't think I could have maintained the courage to do all of this without the support of my amazing family and friends along the way! I'm so grateful to have them in my life, so if you guys are reading this, thank you for everything you do!

I'm now looking forward to 2016 with much curiosity and excitement to see everything that it brings. Cheers to the endless possibilities!

Midi length dresses and skirts have been hugely popular this year, ranging from bodycon silhouettes to flowy full-bodied skirts. I personally love this style for its added length since I'm so tall, but also for the fact that it adds a sense of maturity. I've outgrown the short going out dresses that I wore in college, so this particular style allows me to feel a little more grown up while still achieving that party dress vibe. With the shiny silver and black pattern, what better time to wear it than New Year's Eve? I decided not to accessorize beyond my watch since the pattern itself is so bold, but a black statement necklace or earrings would add a nice touch. Cheers to an awesome 2016!
