This past weekend's weather was crazy warm; I'll gladly take sunny and fifty degrees in the middle of February. I spent as much time as I could outside knowing that this weather wouldn't last very long, whether it was going for a run or walking to grab Starbucks and checking out the local boutiques (btw, the new smoked butterscotch latte is worth a try!). I wanted something comfy but cute for bopping around the city, so I went with this cozy sweater from LOFT, and paired it with leggings and my running shoes. Typically I'd wear riding boots with an outfit similar to this, but the athleisure trend is growing more and more popular, so I thought I'd give it a go. I threw on some red lipstick for a fun twist - the pop of color definitely elevated the look! If you're into layering, try adding a military-inspired or fur vest for another fun element! xoxo

Nothing beats a lazy Saturday at home drinking coffee, reading magazines and catching up on my favorite t.v. shows. And who says we can't look cute while doing that! Lately, I've been obsessed with bralettes. I found this adorable eyelet number at Aerie - they have the widest selection of any retailer I've seen so far, and I want ALL of them. I paired mine with this open back top from Lulu's so that I could show off the cute details of my new bralette, and of course, some cozy, fun socks to finish off the look. This top is super versatile as well - I've worn it when I've gone out with friends, and received many compliments. Lulu's, ASOS and Express are great places to explore if you're looking for something similar! Bralette and monogram mug are linked below! xoxo

Winter whites; it's a thing. Gone is the ancient rule of only wearing white between Memorial Day and Labor Day - wearing white year round, and doing whatever you want, is now "in." I say this with slight caution though. You won't see me wearing a white lace dress in the middle of January (although I just bought a gorgeous white lace midi from Lulu's and I'm dying to wear it), but white jeans, especially with destruction, are on trend and totally ok to pull out of your closet whenever your heart desires. I paired mine with a classic white tee, cozy grey and white wool cardigan, and grey booties with plaid detailing at the ankles. If you're willing to push the envelope a little bit, I suggest keeping a neutral color palette, and pairing your winter whites with greys and creams. Try something new today! xoxo

Today marks the beginning of February, which means Valentine's Day is just around the corner. The status of your dating life doesn't need to determine how much red and pink you wear in the next two weeks though. Have a significant other? Awesome; here's a date night outfit idea with a little edge...Single? Just as well; here's an outfit to rock on Valentine's Day before you treat yourself to a nice bottle of vino...These red dress pants from Gap are probably the most comfortable that I've found, and I just snagged my BCBG pumps off the clearance rack at DSW for $20!! It was "shoe love" at first sight. I decided to pair these with a sleeveless maxi blazer. To say maxi blazers have been hot this season is an understatement, and they're an extremely versatile piece to have in your closet on top of that! If red pants aren't your style, try a black tshirt dress with red strappy heels for a pop of color, or a pink lace blouse with white destructed denim. Links to similar styles below! xoxo

Never Say Never

NeverSayNever

When a lace up dress came across my desk at work a few months ago, my immediate reaction was "never," but now I'm trying to decide which one I want to buy. All it took was a little time for me to warm up to this trend, and I was sold. I've been told to keep an open mind when it comes to various different aspects of life, and I definitely think this can be applied to the world of fashion as well. You probably won't see anyone walking down the street wearing some of the bizarre styles seen on the runways, but you are likely to see people wearing more muted and practical variations of those styles. It just takes a little time for it to "trickle down" and make its way into the hearts of young fashionistas everywhere. Never say never, or you may end up missing out on something great. xoxo

In the dead of winter, there is nothing better than cozying up in an oversize chunky sweater, especially in fun of-the-moment colors like this rust toned grandpa cardigan from Loft. Funny that it's called a grandpa cardigan, right? Although once I thought about it, I could definitely see something similar housed in the closets of the more fashionable grandpas out there. I went for a more casual look when I wore this sweater, throwing it on over a dark grey tshirt and basic black leggings. I accessorized with a super soft fur snood (which btw is on clearance for only $10 right now!!) and dark brown leather Timberland booties. A perfect outfit for running errands on a Saturday, or for snuggling up on your couch with a good book and a cup of coffee! Links to the cardigan and fur snood below!

The small details are what takes an outfit from good to great, such as the fringe at the bottom of this Taylor & Sage Cardigan, or the gold heel on these Sam Edelman pumps (although I wouldn't advise walking around in them on icy, snow-covered roads). These details add another element to the look, and provide for a fun, interesting twist. Fringe has been extremely popular this year, whether it's found on that statement leather bag you've been drooling over, or on the sleeves of the LBD that just arrived in your size. If you get a chance, experiment with this trend! I chose to pair my fringe cardigan (which is beyond soft, btw) with a boyfriend tshirt and high-waisted skinny jeans. For the final touch, I added a monogram necklace from anthropologie and dyed cow hair pumps from Sam Edelman. Links below - happy shopping loves!

I may or may not have a small obsession with coffee table books related to fashion and style. Not only are they interesting and provide a lot of great information about the industry and some of its key players, but they're pretty, and make for a great accent in my living room. A few of the titles that I currently have displayed on my coffee table include Masters of Fashion, which dedicates its pages to the greatest designers of our time, and Pantone on Fashion, which highlights the Pantone color of the year for every year in the past century (FYI there are two this year - rose quartz and serenity). Knowledge is power, so why not learn as much as you can on the subjects you're passionate about? Links to all below!
